INTRODUCTIONThe Association of Hungarian Foundries was founded in December 1992 on the basis of the former Union of Hungarian Foundries. The Association of Hungarian Foundries is a social structure managing the professional business federation of the Hungarian foundry industry. Apart from a few exceptions all the most prominent iron-, steel-, aluminium- and other non-ferrous metal foundries are members of the association. The majority of them are jobbing foundries i.e. they produce castings in obedience to domestic or rather foreign orders for almost all branches of industry, the public utilities and municipal servicing enterprises. In addition to the foundries also enterprises of the supplying industry such as producers of auxilliary materials, trading and consulting undertakings etc. are members of the association. The fundamental activity of the association is the business federation of the Hungarian foundry industry, which in addition to the general and economic representation of interest of the employers also contains concrete professional representations. To the letters belong alongside the activities related to the environment protection, the professional training and education also the estabilishment and development of the international connections. Helping the members getting to the market is also an important function of the association, which means among others making and forwarding market information to the members, in case of casting demand suggesting the adequate member-foundries to the customers or rather forwarding the enquiries to the member-foundries. Furnishing support to the members plays an important role
among the functions of the association. The most important support activities
